Ryan’s Producer: And the First Lady.

Kris: Katy, the First Lady of American Idol, everyone!
Ryan’s Producer: She brought you to tears.
Kris: Yeah, she did.

Kris: Totally, like—
Ryan: …She’s so cute!
Kris: Thanks, Ryan!
Ryan: I mean— I wanna have a chance to spend time with both of you ‘cause you’re always working.
Katy: I know, I’m starstruck right now.
Kris: Oh! Gee!
Katy: ‘Cause I’m like your biggest fan, you had no idea!
Kris: Oh my gosh! Ryan! Like, seriously! We were in— We were at the green mile or whatever. And you walked into the room and her mouth goes (lets out a strange noise, while making this face). Seriously!
Ryan: You know you have very good taste.
Kris: I know, right?
Ryan: You have very good taste.

Ryan: I mean, have you talked to—
Ryan’s Producer: She can’t even look you in the eye.
Ryan: I know, it’s fantastic! This is my favorite moment of the whole season. I love Kris but his wife is even better!
Kris: I know, right? She’s way better than me.

Ryan: Do you think in 10 years Kris will be as humble?
Ryan’s Producer: I do.
Ryan: I’m asking Katy.
Katy: Yes. I’ve known him for 8 years.
Ryan: Where did you guys meet?
Kris and Katy: In high school.
Katy: I was 15.
Ryan: Did you go to prom?
Kris and Katy: No.
Kris: No.
Katy: He didn’t want to go to prom with me.
Kris: I didn’t.
Katy: He was in college when I went to prom.
Kris: Yeah.
Ryan: Why didn’t you wanna go to prom with her?
Katy: He was too cool for prom.
Kris: Oh, God! We weren’t together!
Katy: Oh yeah! And we broke up for a year.
Kris: Yeah.
Ryan: I love these two.
Katy: I think we were together then.
Kris: Oh, were we?
Katy: Yeah.
Kris: Oh, I think I was just, “I don’t wanna go back to high school!” (laughs)

Now that he has been named the new "American Idol" champion, Kris Allen says he wants to enjoy his marriage life with wife Katy Allen. Interviewed by E! News backstage after being announced as winner of "American Idol" eight season on Wednesday, May 20, Kris Allen said he is longing to enjoy his married life with wife Katy Allen, whom he married to in September last year. "We haven't been able to be married for the last nine months," he said. "She's amazing. She's just the coolest chick in the world. Hopefully, me and my wife will get to spend some more time together." - aceshowbiz
Who is your American Idol and why?
"My American Idol is my wife. I know that is cheesy, but she works her tail off everyday for us. No-one knows what she has done for me and she is the greatest person I know." - suite101
Kris Allen has never hidden the fact that he was married in order to get the young female vote. In fact, he was very proud to show his wife off throughout the American Idol competition. Now he has let us in on some of their wedding details (with 400 guests) and how he really feels about his bride of 8 months.
“We have a lot of family and friends, and we didn’t want to leave anybody out,” Allen says of his wedding, which took place at sunset on the Arkansas River. “We set out 300 chairs and people were standing up!” At the reception, which was catered by Katy’s grandmother, Allen sang the same song that he auditioned with: “A Song For You.” “We just had a blast,” he says of the day.
“She’s been my best friend for a long time,” Allen says of his wife, Katy, who he began dating his junior year of high school. “She’s the coolest chick in the world.”
